Jessica´s Furniture - Forest Statistics

The deforestation rate in Costa Rica began to increase when there was no control over the forest. As a consequence, the primary forest got damage but at the same time did also many Costa Rican species of flora and fauna. Because of this, state and private institutions joined together and decide to protect the forest and give a solution to deforestation. At this point, the state motivated peasants to reforest and as a result, begin to control illegal cut down of wood belonging to the primary forest.

In the 80´s decade, “Costa Rica recovered approximately a 30% of degraded lands” (from the forest) meaning that reforestation began to increase radically. “In the year 2004, Costa Rica reached an approximate of 159 thousand reforested hectares…” (from the forest). Nowadays, we count approximately with 550 thousand cubic meters per year of reforested wood like Melina and Teakwood for the national market. These statistics guarantee industry that the country has raw material to keep working and to be part of the environment conservationists of the forest.

Costa Rica is a privileged country since its lands are fertile and full of vegetation. It is necessary to know that we contribute with the environment and that the primary forest it’s being protected no only by us but also by future generations who will follow our example.
